Ingredients:

Smash Burger Pitas

500 g lean beef mince
½ red onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
30 ml fresh mint, finely chopped
Pinch of salt
2.5 ml black pepper
2.5 ml dried oregano
2.5 ml paprika
5 pita breads

Homemade Greek Delight® Tzatziki

250 g LANCEWOOD Greek Delight® Double Cream Plain Yoghurt
1 garlic clove, crushed
5 ml lemon juice
250 ml cucumber, finely chopped
10 ml fresh mint, chopped
10 ml fresh dill, chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Toppings

1 tomato, chopped
1 red onion, sliced
1 cucumber, chopped
Feta cheese
Fresh dill

Method

Homemade Greek Delight® Tzatziki

  1. In a bowl, combine the LANCEWOOD Greek Delight® Double Cream Plain Yoghurt, garlic and lemon juice.
  2. Place the chopped cucumber in a colander and lightly sprinkle with salt. Leave for 15 minutes before squeezing out any excess moisture.
  3. Stir the cucumber, mint and dill into the yoghurt mixture.
  4. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  5. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Smash Burger Pitas

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mince, onion, garlic, mint, salt, pepper, oregano and paprika.
  2. Mix well and divide into 5 equal portions.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Place one portion of mince in the centre of the pan and top with a pita bread.
  5. Using a burger press or heavy saucepan, flatten the mince as thinly as possible.
  6. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the mince is cooked through.
  7. Flip and cook for a further minute until the pita is lightly toasted.
  8. Repeat with the remaining mince portions and pita breads.

To Serve

  1. Spoon a generous amount of Homemade Greek Delight® Tzatziki onto each smash burger pita.
  2. Top with tomato, cucumber, red onion, feta cheese and fresh dill.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy.
