Deep Fried Mozzarella Sticks

Ingredients:

Crumbed mozzarella sticks:
300 g LANCEWOOD® Medium Fat Mozzarella, cut into 14 sticks (± 1.5 cm X 1.5 cm x 8 cm long)
125 ml cake flour seasoned with salt & pepper to taste
2 large egg(s)
lightly beaten
375 ml breadcrumbs
oil for frying

Plum dipping sauce:
80 ml plum jam or mixed fruit jam
15 ml lime juice
15 ml soy sauce
1 ml crushed garlic
1 ml fresh ginger, grated

To serve:
fresh coriander, chopped

Method

Crumbed mozzarella sticks:
  1. Dip the mozzarella sticks into the flour, then into the beaten egg and then into the breadcrumbs.
  2. Place it on a plate and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat the oil (about 3 cm deep). Fry each mozzarella stick briefly in hot oil until golden. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on wax paper to absorb excess oil.


Plum dipping sauce:
  1. Using a small serving bowl, mix the jam, lime juice, soy sauce, garlic and ginger together.
  2. Serve the crumbed mozzarella sticks with plum dipping sauce and fresh coriander.
