Cauliflower & Broccoli Bake
Ingredients:
Cauliflower & Broccoli Bake
400 g cauliflower florets
400 g broccoli florets
salt & freshly ground black pepper to taste
125 ml LANCEWOOD® Cheddar, grated
White Sauce
60 ml melted butter
60 ml cake flour
500 ml milk, A pinch of salt
Method
Preheat the oven at 180°C.White SauceIn a bowl, mix the melted butter and flour. Add the milk little by little while stirring continuously until thick. Season to taste. Set aside.Cauliflower & Broccoli Bake
- Cook cauliflower and broccoli in salted boiling water until just soft. Drain well. Place in a serving dish.
- Pour the white sauce over the cauliflower and broccoli. Sprinkle grated cheddar over and bake for 20 – 25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
HINTS & TIPS:- Drain cooked broccoli and cauliflower very well before pouring the sauce over to prevent sauce from becoming watery.
- Mix 125 ml breadcrumbs with 45 ml melted butter and mix with the grated cheddar for a crunchy topping.
- For a loaded cauliflower & broccoli bake – Fry 1 chopped onion and 200 g chopped bacon in a little oil until golden and add to the white sauce before pouring it over. Sprinkle extra grated cheddar over and bake at 180°C for 15 – 20 minutes or until golden.
