Lancewood Decadent cheese dip in loaf crust

Ingredients

round loaf of bread
250 ml LANCEWOOD Sauce Delight® Cheese Sauce
230 g LANCEWOOD® Medium Fat Spring Onion & Chives Cream Cheese
250 ml LANCEWOOD® Cheddar , grated
250 ml LANCEWOOD® Mozzarella , grated
45 ml mayonnaise
15 ml wholegrain mustard
salt & freshly ground black pepper  to taste
30 ml oil
200 g rindless streaky bacon , chopped
3 spring onion(s) , chopped
oil  for brushing

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking sheet with baking paper.

Cut a circle from the top of the bread, leaving a 3 cm thick border. Cut straight down, but not right through and remove the center piece of bread. Set aside.

Mix the cheese sauce, cream cheese, cheeses, mayonnaise, mustard and seasoning together.

Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the bacon until golden. Add to the cheese mixture and spring onions and mix through.

Spoon into the bread and place on the baking sheet. Brush the edges of the bread with oil and bake for 30 – 40 minutes until golden and bubbling.

Meanwhile cut the center piece of bread that was removed into bite-sized chunks. Toast until golden on all sides. Serve with the warm dip.

HINTS & TIPS:

  • Use LANCEWOOD® Medium Fat Smokey Onion & Mustard Cream Cheese instead.
  • Replace the spring onions with caramelised onions by frying 2 chopped onions in 30 ml oil with 60 ml light brown sugar.
