Ingredients


500 g self raising flour
50 g packet brown onion soup
250 g LANCEWOOD® Cheddar, grated
500 ml LANCEWOOD® Buttermilk, shake well before opening

Method


Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a large loaf pan or a medium-sized round or oval braai casserole. Mix the flour, brown onion soup and half of the cheese together. Add the buttermilk and mix to a firm dough. Press the dough into the greased pan and spread it out evenly. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the dough. Bake for 45 – 60 minutes (depending on the size of your pan) until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Serve warm with butter and extra grated cheese.

HINTS & TIPS:

  • Add a tablespoon of milk to the buttermilk bottle and shake well to get the last little bit of buttermilk out.
  • Grease your hands with a few drops of oil before handling the dough to avoid it sticking to your hands.
  • White onion soup can be used instead of brown onion soup.
