Optional ingredients for filling:
1. Using a mixing bowl, add the self-raising flour and salt and mix together.
2. Add the yoghurt and mix into a soft dough. Add a bit more flour if necessary.
3. Shape the dough into 12 balls.
4. Using a medium-sized pot, add 4 cm deep oil and heat until hot. Gently fry the vetkoek for 4 – 5 minutes per side or until a knife inserted comes out clean. Drain on absorbent paper.
5. Serve warm with your preferred filling.
