Create NowThis Baby Marrow Slice is a true family classic - wholesome, comforting and wonderfully versatile. Packed with fresh vegetables, crispy bacon and generous amounts of LANCEWOOD® Cheddar Cheese, it delivers big flavour with satisfying goodness in every bite.
Often misunderstood, cheddar cheese nutrition actually offers valuable protein and calcium, while cheddar cheese calories can be enjoyed as part of a balanced meal when paired with vegetables, as in this slice. It’s also a practical, budget-friendly bake, making it a great option when considering cheddar cheese price and value for money.
Perfect for lunchboxes, light dinners or make-ahead meals, this easy bake proves that simple ingredients and quality cheese can create something truly delicious.
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease and line a 20 × 25 cm baking tin.
2. Cook the base
Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and bacon and sauté until the onion is soft and the bacon is cooked through. Set aside to cool slightly.
3. Combine the vegetables and cheese
In a large bowl, mix together the grated baby marrows, carrots, corn, grated cheddar cheese and spring onions.
4. Add the bacon mixture
Stir the cooled onion and bacon into the vegetable mixture until evenly combined.
5. Add dry ingredients
Sprinkle over the self-raising flour and baking powder, mixing well to distribute evenly.
6. Mix the wet ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt and pepper.
7. Assemble the slice
Pour the egg mixture into the vegetable mixture and stir until fully combined. Spoon into the prepared tin and spread evenly.
8. Bake
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden, set in the centre and lightly crisp on top.
9. Cool and store
Allow to cool before slicing into squares. Store in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
