400 g red apples, peeled, cored and grated (about 250 g when grated)
lemon juice
15 ml oil
1 small onion, chopped
100 g rindless streaky bacon, chopped
150 g LANCEWOOD® Mature Cheddar, grated
80 ml flour
1 extra large egg
5 ml freshly chopped rosemary
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
oil for frying

Salted caramel sauce:
125 ml caramel treat
30 ml melted butter
1 - 2 ml salt flakes


Grate the apples and drizzle with lemon juice. Place in a clean kitchen cloth and squeeze as much liquid out as you can. Heat the oil and fry the onion and bacon until golden. Set aside to cool. Mix the apples and cheese together, add the flour and mix through. Beat the egg, the rosemary and add to the bacon and onion mixture, seasoning to taste. Mix well. Heat oil in a frying pan. Fry tablespoons of the mixture over medium heat for about 2 minutes on each side. Drain on absorbent paper. 

Salted caramel sauce:
Heat caramel. Beat in melted butter and salt.

To finish:
Serve with the salted caramel sauce.
